Yatri (traveller) 1.0 was incepted when we read a news of seven deaths in one of the earthquake shelter camps of Gorkha. We wanted to contribute immediately with a winter drive.
In the first year of Yatri, we were able to multiply the sponsors' gift of NPR. 75,000 to a donation of NPR. 255,000 by selling photo frames. The proceeds were then handed over to the NYANO SANSAR Project of Nepal Share. We have come to know that the fund was used to buy winter clothes for the people Laprak.
This year Yatri will try to generate funds for cataract surgeries of over 100 patients at the Sagarmatha Choudhary Eye Hospital, Lahan, Nepal. It just takes NPR. 1,200 to give vision to a person. We are collaborating withMake Me See Project for the surgeries.
Make Me See is a project by working individuals of Kathmandu. It is a voluntary project led by Mahesh Null. Amazingly the team has have already helped 76 people to get their vision back.
The exhibition will showcase around 40 pictures. This time we are trying to tribute the exhibits to poet and philosopher Kahlil Gibran.
During the three days long event, we will also have 'Sufi' performances byAnkit Babu Adhikari (Day I), jazz performances by Sneha Yonjan (Day II) and poetry recitation by Alok Lamsal (Day III).
We would like to thank our sponsors and partners of Yatri 1.0 for helping us out with our first exhibition. Thank you Ideas and Solutions (Kshitiz Puriand team), King's College, Dish Home, The North Face Nepal, Himalaya TV, Urban Girl, Glocal Khabar and Bikalpa Art Center for the support.
Thank you contributors, visitors and well wishes for encouraging us throughout.
We are looking for sponsorships this year as well. Please let us know if you are willing to collaborate.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the event.
