With a note that all stakeholders should focus on strengthening human capital for the development of the nation with proper education, motivation, incentives, capacity building training and right attitude, HR Meet 2017 with a theme ‘HR for all, all for HR’ has concluded on March 30 amidst 250 plus HR professionals in Kathmandu. Organized by Growth Sellers Consultancy Pvt. Ltd, it was the 10th edition of HR Meet on March 29 and 30.

With a note that all stakeholders should focus on strengthening human capital for the development of the nation with proper education, motivation, incentives, capacity building training and right attitude, HR Meet 2017 with a theme ‘HR for all, all for HR’ has concluded on March 30 amidst 250 plus HR professionals in Kathmandu. Organized by Growth Sellers Consultancy Pvt. Ltd, it was the 10th edition of HR Meet on March 29 and 30.

 Keynote speakers Prof. Dr. TV Rao , chairman of TVRLS and Prof. Dr. ISF Irudayaraj, Faculty of Xavier Labour Relations Institute, India delivered their sessions on ‘The 360 Degree Feedback’ and ‘Emerging roles and response of HR over decades’.

In this two-day non-residence conference, prominent domestic speakers Dr. Swarnim Wagle, Member of National Planning Commission and Dr. Govind Raj Pokharel, CEO of National Reconstruction Authority shared about the condition of human capital in the country. Dr. Wagle said, “In bureaucracy, there is a system of monetary incentive, however, it cannot motivate civil servants as there is flat appraisal system.” Citing that the flat appraisal system de-motivates performers, he stressed on the need to introduce proper performance measurement system to have fair judgment of bureaucrats working in public system.

Likewise, Dr. Pokharel said, “Having the post graduation degree won’t contribute the nation with human capital. The right attitude and capacity building of people will make them human capital for nation.” He further said that the system of selecting civil servant through examination process of Public Service Commission needs to be changed as the government has no system of synching educational background with their responsibility.

The prime highlights of this conference are panel discussion among CEOs and HR experts where they discussed about the challenges in managing HR in Nepalese Perspective. In the panel, there were Richard Howard, Country director of ILO, Sameer Kaiwar, CEO of Jawalakhel Group of Companies, Sanjib Subba, CEO of NBI, and HR heads from Surya Nepal Debasish Hait, Bina Rana and Moon Gurung. Other speakers were Chandra Kumar Shekhar, Ajay Mishra, CEO of Siddhartha Development Bank, Pankaj shrestha among others.

There were participants from corporate, banking, manufacturing, IT, corporations, institutions, NGO/ INGOs and other sectors across the country.  Participants had excellent networking opportunities, enriching sessions of resource persons with experiential wisdom. The interesting facts about basic expenditure to survive in the Kathmandu, status of post graduates and salary status of government employees were presented by the FACTS Nepal in the conference.

The manuscript of compiled articles written by Mohan Ojha, Managing Director of Growth Sellers and Manohar Man Shrestha ‘People Power: Excelling Human Resource’ was inaugurated by Chief guest Prof. Subas KC, Dean of Kathmandu University in the program. And Kumar Joshi, President of Human  Resources Society of Nepal has officially launched Growth Sellers’ jobsite ‘www.growthsellers.com’. According to the organizer, employers can post jobs for free till the end of Chaitra.
